Periodontal disease is usually a slow, painless, progressive condition. Most adults with this disease are unaware they have it but if diagnosed and treated early the teeth can be saved.

If the pulp becomes infected, the infection can spread through the entire root canal system of the tooth. This will eventually lead to an abscess. Root canal, or endodontic treatment, cleans out the infected pulp chamber and repairs the damage so the tooth can be saved.
learn moreMahdi has had a passion for endodontics since he left dental school and decided to pursue his interest by embarking upon the three-year MSc Endodontic Practice programme at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. Here he was able to greatly advance his knowledge base and technical skill in endodontics, and also gained valuable experience by treating complex cases referred to the hospital by general dental practitioners.

He works part-time as an Honorary Lecturer in Endodontics at the Institute of Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London, where he greatly enjoys teaching the postgraduate endodontics students and is involved in research.
Mahdi is a member of the British Endodontic Society and keeps up to date with the latest advancements by reading endodontic specific journals; the ‘International Endodontic Journal’ and 'Endo – Endodontic Practice Today’. You can see examples of Mahdi's work at www.ma-endo.co.uk.
